Sowing seeds in Remote Areas

As Tina and I spend more time in Honduras, we are becoming aware of areas untouched by our team ministries. We have churches established in areas that are just unreachable by our normal BMDMI mission teams. For most, the roads are inaccessible by bus and large truck and the village just can’t support a “normal sized” team.  To meet this need we are leading small 3 person teams. This number would include translators as well as Tina and I. We travel in a 4x4 vehicle, sleep in tents and eat very basic meals (a lot of rice and beans) cooked on a colman stove.

In February of 2010 I took a small veterinary team into the mountains above El Ocotal. The team spent 5 days treating the animals of several small villages inwhich we have established churches. We also assisted those churches with sharing the gospel and provided them with bibles. The working age male is a demographic group in Honduras that is difficult to reach. The Vet ministry allows us to share God's word with that very group.

This first team was a huge success and it was evident that God was not only in control but wants us there. Since that trip, more and more oppurtunities continue to present themselves. Plans are underway for several teams in 2010. The areas in need are:

In April of 2010 I will begin taking teams into the heart of La Mosquitia. This is an area that is extremely difficult to reach and therefore is in severe need of everything. The area is only accessible by small (4 seats) aircraft. Once there, we will travel by dugout canoe on the various Rivers. The Lord has laid it upon our hearts to return to the roots of BMDMI by taking small teams out into harsh conditions and sharing God's love with them.
